How to send a takedown notice
Your written notice must include all of the following:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed.
- Identification of the material you want removed, with the exact page URL so we can find it.
- Your name, address, telephone number, and email address.
- A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act for the owner.
Please note that knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages. Consider whether the use might be a fair use first. A notice that does not include these items may not be actionable.
What happens next
When we receive a valid notice we remove or disable access to the material promptly and tell the person who posted it. We may share a copy of the notice with them. Repeat infringers lose their accounts.
How to send a counter-notice
If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, you may send a counter-notice to the designated agent above. It must include:
- Your physical or electronic signature.
- Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared before removal.
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed by mistake or misidentification.
- Your name, address, and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your address (or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which we can be found) and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice.
We pass the counter-notice to the original complainant. If they do not tell us within 10 to 14 business days that they have filed a court action, we may restore the material.
