Review Guidelines
Review Guidelines
Effective October 13, 2026
Reviews help people decide which shows are worth the drive. They only work if they are honest. These guidelines apply to every review on Shows This Weekend and are part of our Terms of Service.
What a good review is
- Written by you, about a show you actually attended, in your own words.
- Based on first-hand experience: the crowd, the dealers, parking, admission, how the event was run.
- Specific and fair. Say what you saw. Opinions are welcome; claims of fact should be true.
What is not allowed
- Reviews you were paid or rewarded for. Do not post a review in exchange for money, free admission, a table, a discount, or any other incentive, and do not offer one to get a review or to change one. If you have a relationship with the event, do not review it.
- Reviews of your own event. Organizers, staff, vendors with a financial stake in the show, and their family members may not review it. The site blocks organizers from reviewing events they run.
- Fake, copied, or bulk-posted reviews, and reviews of events you did not attend.
- Reviews of competitors' events written to damage them.
- Harassment, hate speech, threats, or personal attacks on named individuals; private information about anyone; sexual content.
- Advertising, links to other sites, and contact details.
- Anything unlawful, or that you do not have the right to post.
How moderation works
Review text is checked before it is published. Star-only ratings are published immediately but can be removed. We approve or reject reviews against these guidelines. We do not reject reviews because they are negative, and organizers cannot pay to remove or change one. A rejected review is not shown, and you may be told why. We may also remove a review after publication if we learn it breaks these rules, and we may suspend repeat offenders.
Ratings shown for an event are the average of published reviews and show how many reviews they are based on.
Reporting a review
Every published review has a Report link. Use it if you think a review breaks these guidelines. Reports go to our moderators, who check them in good faith; the person who wrote the review is not told who reported it. Organizers can also report a review about their event, for example if it is about a different show. You can also email support@showsthisweekend.com.
Editing and deleting your review
You can edit or delete your own reviews from your account at any time.
U.S. Federal Trade Commission rule on consumer reviews
The FTC's rule on fake reviews and testimonials (16 CFR Part 465) prohibits, among other things, writing or selling fake or false consumer reviews, buying positive or negative reviews, insider reviews that do not disclose the reviewer's relationship, review suppression through threats or intimidation, and fake social media indicators. We built these guidelines to follow that rule. If you see a review that looks fake, report it.
