Weekend concentration

89.3%

of upcoming occurrences (7,062 of 7,909) start on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday — matching the name of this site. An occurrence counts toward weekend concentration if its START date (local date, falling back to UTC date when no local date is recorded) is a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. A multi-day show that starts midweek but runs into the weekend is not counted here — a disclosed simplification, not a full date-range check.

Admission economics

Admission figures (free/priced percentages, median price) are per DISTINCT EVENT within the upcoming window, since admission_price/is_free are event-level facts, not per-occurrence.

Methodology

Every number on this page is computed directly from our verified, provenance-tracked show database — the same records behind every listing on this site. See how we verify what's on this site for how a listing gets there in the first place.

Window: Published, non-expired occurrences whose end date (or start date, if no end is recorded) is today or later, and whose start date falls within the next 365 days. The lower bound matches the site's own live-inventory rule (src/lib/db.ts HUB_SHOW_WHERE_BASE) — including its 1-day UTC floor so a still-open West Coast Saturday show is never dropped a few hours early.

Counting unit: "Shows" (Distinct events — one per canonical show identity / detail page (a recurring show is one show, however many dated occurrences it has).) and "occurrences" (Individual dated instances. A recurring show can contribute many occurrences; used only for busiest-months, weekend-concentration, and top-venues, as noted per stat.) are counted separately and labeled as such throughout — busiest months, weekend concentration, and most-active-venues use occurrence counts; every other figure counts distinct shows.

State labels: Raw primary_state values are consolidated to their 2-letter USPS abbreviation when they exactly match a known abbreviation or full state name (case-insensitive); this collapses spelling variants of the same fact (e.g. "PA" and "Pennsylvania") without inventing or discarding any record. Unrecognized variants are kept as their raw value.

Admission figures: Admission figures (free/priced percentages, median price) are per DISTINCT EVENT within the upcoming window, since admission_price/is_free are event-level facts, not per-occurrence. A blank or missing admission price is never treated as free or as zero — it's simply excluded from the priced-show percentage and the median-price calculation.
