The weekend field guide
Planning your first show: a visitor checklist
Choose a show that suits your interests, confirm the practical details and keep the organizer’s information handy before you travel.
Choose the kind of visit you want
Read the event description and decide whether you want to browse, watch a demonstration, shop or take part. A show name alone does not establish its program. Check the organizer’s schedule for the activities that matter to you, including any separate bookings.
Confirm the date, venue and public hours
Open the official source linked from the listing before travelling. Check the street address and visitor opening times; exhibitor setup hours may be different. If information is missing or sources disagree, ask the organizer. Save the listing or add it to your calendar, then recheck it before setting off.
Understand what your admission covers
Confirm the ticket price and whether advance purchase is required. Ask whether parking, workshops or special sessions are included. An unlisted price does not mean free admission. Visitor entry also does not automatically give you a seller table, competition entry or display space.
Plan for the venue
Check the organizer’s information about parking, transit, step-free access, seating and indoor or outdoor areas. Ask about any access needs before the visit. For outdoor events, look for weather updates and the cancellation policy rather than assuming the program will run unchanged.
Keep a useful record
Keep your booking confirmation and the organizer’s contact details together. Our directory links to sources so you can follow up on event information. If you find a wrong date or venue, use the listing’s correction link and include a public source for review.
